Berkshire Strings Fall Classes

September 23 - December 21

Registration required for each class. Some Class sizes are limited.

Please note that Sessions are now 6 weeks long.

Preferred: choose "Book Now" to pay later with cash/check on first class of the 6-week session.

Not preferred: choose “Continue to Payment” to use credit card. Please add on 3% to cover fees.

Mondays: 6:00pm New Tunes and Review (Advancing Beginners - Intermediate) 1 hour

This class will be an alternating curriculum of New Tunes and Review Tunes, lists posted on the website. In Review weeks, we will be addressing bowing techniques, styles and phrasing for 5 tunes previously taught (including past week's New Tune). Sheet music and Code for New Tunes will be provided at the beginning of class. Please bring your own recording devices to capture practice speed audio.

Mondays: 7:00pm Berkshire Strings Moderate Jam 1.5 hours

The Berkshire Strings Moderate Jam has moved to Monday nights. Tunes can be called from the Berkshire Strings Jam Collection 3rd Edition. Use Add-On button from New Tunes class or RSVP from Jams page.

Tuesdays: 11:00am Music Lovers Dream 1.25 hours

A string ensemble for intermediate level music readers. Violin, Viola and Cello players welcome. Baroque to Beatles, Classical to corny, Traditional fiddle tune arrangements, duets, trios and quartets.

Tuesdays: 6:30pm Fretless Fiddle Group 1.25 hours

This post-introductory level class will introduce you to the Berkshire Strings repertoire while instructing you on the continuing points of playing the instrument. Opportunities to learn by ear or utilize sheet music/code. Lots of time for questions. Develop healthy practice routines and attitudes about being an adult learner. Share resources and the joys of progress.

Wednesdays: 1:45pm Advancing-Beginners Repertoire Class 1 hour

Strengthen your repertoire with a structured practice list and weekly instruction to address technique and style elements. Receive support on all elements of instrumental study and being an adult learner. Drop-ins welcome until class size is full. Please inquire before noon on day of class.

Fridays: 12:30pm Advanced Class Quilt 1.5 hours

Advanced Class Quilt: a colorful, complex offering of New Tunes, time for Review and Jamming on repertoire from past classes, and a sprinkling of Contradance music rehearsal, all meant to cover a wide range of interests. New Tunes, Review Tunes and Contradance Tunes will be posted on the website for preparation and practice purposes. You do not need to be a part of the "Contradance Community Band" to enjoy the repertoire and medleys we will entertain in class.
